Penny (Silver, 19 mm, 1.33 g), hammer cross type, moneyer Aelfwig, Oxford, 1059-1062. ✠EADPAR RD RE Crowned, bearded and draped bust of Edward the Confessor to right, holding scepter in his right hand. Rev. AELFPI ON OXENEX Voided cross with a pellet in center and hammer pellet terminals. SCBC 1182. A well struck example with beautiful iridescent toning. The flan slightly wavy, otherwise, extremely fine.
